Writer's Guidelines

Articles:

Silkworm Magazine is intended for people interested in the art of painting on silk.  We look for articles that feature our members.  We look for “how-to” articles about certain aspect of silk painting.  Business articles for artists are also of value to our member readers.  Any article you submit and that we accept may be edited because of space considerations.  We may send your article back to you so that you can approve it.

Photo Tips:

Please submit sharp images at 300 dpi.  Do not submit the images from your website as these are usually low quality and not suitable for printing.  Images should be CMYK for accurate color printing.  You should be able to find this setting in photo editing programs such as PaintShop Pro or Photoshop.  If you are submitting photos of wearable art, please iron the garment before photographing as wrinkles stand out on a photograph.  When sending images, please label them carefully.

Deadlines and Details:

The Silkworm is published quarterly. All submissions, including artwork, must be sent no less than 30 days before publishing.  We publish on the 15th of the month in March, June, September and December.  Please plan accordingly.  We only accept electronic submissions.  Written materials should be in Microsoft Word format.  Images should be jpeg.  If your files are large, contact us and we will direct you to a service from which you may e-mail large files.  If you do not have access to a computer, have your materials scanned into electronic format and send us the information on a CD Rom.

Please contact the editor before submitting an article.
