Silk Painting How to

What are Discharging Agents

deColourant, the discharging agent, (available through DharmaTrading) will remove the color from dyed natural fabrics. It is another good tool to have in your arsenal of supplies.  It can add texture, a new color, or create a space to add another color. It can also recover a white resist line that didn’t quite hold.

Discharging

The distinctly blue areas (mostly in the lower half of the painting) have been created by discharging. I do not wait for the discharge paste paste to dry (per the instructions on Jacquard Discharge Paste) but lay down a heated dedicated discharge steam iron right onto the silk where there is brushed-on discharge paste.
