Main areas of responsibilities 

Board of Directors

Meetings: Generate agenda creating opportunities for updates from each of the Standing Committee Chairs.( this task can be delegated to another board member).  

The use of google docs has enabled the Board meetings to run more smoothly. This use of google docs  eliminates the use of hard copy reports, prompts Board members to prepare their reports before the meetings and allows members to familiarize themselves with the reports prior to the meetings. Since each document is automatically saved, each document is archived.

Maintain timely discussions and initiate Board votes. 

Board vacancies: recruit new board members and fill vacancies

LISTEN to members’ concerns and respond or delegate action to appropriate Standing Committee Chair. 

MONITOR ALL STANDING COMMITTEES AND PROVIDE GUIDANCE AND ASSISTANCE WHEN ASKED OR DEEMED NECESSARY.

*Since the Silkworm Editor’s position is a paid position, that person cannot serve on the Board therefore another designee provides the report to the Board. 

Prepare a president’s message for the Silkworm Magazine for each issue. This can be done in newsletter format, or in prose complementing issue themes or in a style of the president’s own choosing.
